Squadron Burgee Heraldry:

The tip of the AMIPS pennant is a blue triangle, followed by alternate stripes of white and blue. These colored stripes correlate to the USPS Ensign. The predominate portion of the pennant is a large letter "A" lying on its side. The two side by side blue rectangles, or "dashes" in the lower portion of the "A" identifying in Morse Code the letter ""M". In the upper portion of the letter "A" are two blue squares or "dots" and these signify the letter "I". Altogether our pennant with the blue triangular tip and the alternate white and blue stripes indicates our identity with its similarity to the USPS Ensign and conveys our relationship with the USPS. The AMI for Anna Maria Island, and this hallmark sets Anna Maria Island apart from any other Power Squadron that may be formed. The Squadron Pennant was designed by P/C Ray Sherman and was approved on December 15, 1958 at a formal Charter Dinner.
